When it comes to Seventies-era proto-punk, it doesn’t get much rawer than the Stooges’ aptly-titled third album, Raw Power. Following a brief break-up period, the Motor City miscreants hit a London, UK recording studio with David Bowie to track eight direct-but-depraved classics that alternate between off-the-rails rock recklessness (“Search and Destroy”) and indulgently sleazy psych (“Gimme Danger”). A napalm-scented Big Bang moment for punk, pressed onto two slabs of gold-colored vinyl to showcase Bowie’s original mix and Iggy Pop’s own ear-bleeding, in-the-red late Nineties remix.
