Slip is post-hardcore ground zero. While assembled by a number of veteran players from the New York youth crew scene — including members of Youth of Today, Gorilla Biscuits, Burn, Bold and more — Quicksand leaned into a slower and groovier heaviness that reflected a love of Jane’s Addiction as much as it did their hardcore heritage. 1993’s Slip follows Quicksand’s self-titled EP, features heady, hypnotic originals like “Fazer” and “Dine Alone,” and caps with a uniquely chugging cover of the Smiths’ “How Soon is Now?” Remastered for its 30th anniversary and pressed on gloriously goopy swamp green splatter vinyl.
